E-Steve; can't offer any advice on the gearbox, however it sounds like you are functioning enough again to twist wrenches (spanners?). Have you been able to ride yet? I will post a reminder for the Banded Oak Bike Nite on THU 9/4 on both sites.  EWB

E-Steve,

My 2012 Tiger has 99,710 miles and I have had not issue with the clutch and/or transmission.

I did find this tread Proper way to diagnose a gear shift problem - 800 XC | Triumph Rat Motorcycle Forums on Triumphrat.net. On part of the tread I found the replace the Detent Wheel and Pivot Plate which resolved the down shifting issue. I believe this was the case of the issue with Norms Bonneville.

Steve, I have never been gentle with mine and never saw a recall and have not had any issues. Which is also surprising given how many times I dropped it in the mud.

Steve: you may remember the last time we were in Sturgis, my Bonnie would not downshift. The cause was wear on the lever that moves the gears. The oe part was soft steel that wears. The replacement part was hardened steel. May be the same issue on your bike.

Good morning to all fellow Tiger 800 owners....

If there are anyone of you out there that has owned an 800 Tiger from years 2011-2017,did you at anytime received a recall notice regarding a shifting issue with the gearbox from Triumph( mostly down shifts)?Mine upshifts fine to 6th gear downshifting from 4th to 2nd turns into a major fight!!!The spring and the pin in the shifter mechanism is not at fault but there appears to be excessive free play at the shift pedal, which does not seem right.l did check a Tiger 800 forum and Triumph RAT.net,but no dice.

I have dis-assembled the clutch 3 times on this and checked on- line and took pictures proir to removal, but have gotten nowhere!

This started last April when the shifter broke at the crank case.Anything that l have over looked?

Currently, the bike is back together and l have no parts left over.A small spring on the shift paw broke back in 2023 and was repla ed.Just looking for feedback before l can devise a game plan for the Winter........

Hi BB!
This reply is "perhaps" a bit late.
However, did the Pagans have any idea that the RMRATs of Colorado were visiting Oak Creek at the same time? Could have been a good time for a Rumble, or some détente!  Anyhow, I hope the ride was a success for all!

[emrat:15131] Rally 2025

Good evening

Thankyou all who expressed gratitude and thanks in person or through e-mail regarding the Steamboat rally.Have possible ideas for 2026,but that is another story!

Whilst l remember, there are a couple of upcoming dates l need to disclose:

August 17th: Bullit Bob's 5 pass ride

Route currently in the works, but l know for sure this will be an all day ride.l am aware that the BMW 100,000 foot ride is the day before ( 16th),which some of you may have already signed up.....

Capt.Bob

I assume you stayed on 14 via Ault,Raymer then onto Stirling?Ridden that road once.Very light traffic on this road, but cross winds would be an issue!

Good seeing Denise and yourself, see you in McCook in September

Steve,

Yes, when we stopped in Walden I looked at the map and noticed that HWY 14 would take us to Holyoke. Then HWY 23 to Holdrege. We have never ridden 23 and it's really good. There are really corners.

That was quite an unexpected route you took home. I guess that you've already ridden most of the other roads in Nebraska. Glad you made it home safely.

I got home around 2:30, had a nice ride back despite a little bit of traffic. It was really great to hang out and chat with everyone!

A huge shout out to E-Steve for corralling us all and shuttling the coolers!

Annette and I arrived in Montrose after a leisurely ride home that included lunch in Meeker and a refreshingly cool ride across the Grand Mesa. We had a fantastic time drinking to excess and BSing with everyone in Steamboat. We were so happy to be there with our dear friends from RMRAT.

I will add our voices to those giving props to E-Steve for setting up a great event. You did a bang up job on your first year of leadership. Huzzah!

We want to thank E-Steve for planning a awesome weekend. We enjoyed seeing everyone and can't wait for the Fall Overnight ride.
