[The Network] Restorative Practices in Schools needs an Intern (LCJP Longmont)

About the Organization:

LCJP is a growing Longmont nonprofit organization that has a 15-year history of delivering restorative justice (RJ) services in partnership with the Longmont Police Department, the Longmont Municipal Court, and other Criminal Justice agencies.  In collaboration with the St. Vrain Valley School District, a pilot project addressing the full spectrum of discipline offenses, crime and conflict on school grounds was implemented in the Longmont High School feeder system. A variety of restorative processes are led by a trained team of youth facilitators, restorative mediators and community members. Period of Internship: We have one internship position open in the Restorative Practices in Schools program. Our intern position requires an academic year commitment starting in August 2013; we are flexible regarding weekly hours and scheduling!

  • A modest stipend of $1000 (payable upon completion of Internship)

Position requirements:

  • Background check and integrity interview with the Longmont Police Department
  • Experience working with youth
  • Participate in and complete RJ Trainings during the internship
  • Assist with case work
  • Assist with student volunteer program

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to and value of restorative justice principles and practices
  • Enrolled in good standing at a university program in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Conflict Resolution, Peace Studies or related social services field
  • One academic year commitment for internship is preferred; 10-15 hours per week suggested (flexible)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office suite; experience with social networking tools
  • Spanish language proficiency strongly preferred
