Martin,
Just to let you know I came across 24 yesterday (Sunday) coming back from Montrose. It took me close to 90 minutes to go the 20 or so miles from Lake George to 67 in Woodland Park. I probably hit Lake George around 2:15. 1st and 2nd gear only bumper to bumper. I didn't feel comfortable doing the shoulder like you can going up to the tunnel out of Silverthorne. Lots of rain may have played a part in the traffic back-up I don't know. 67 was light traffic and the dirt section of Pine Creek is in excellent shape though a little slippery when wet.

Subject: [emrat:12393] First Sunday ride 8/2/20?
Unless someone else wants to lead one, I'd be happy to lead the first Sunday ride on Sunday Aug 2.
-- Since it's the middle of Summer and I want to take advantage of the long day and the nice weather and plan a nice, long ride.
Tentative route would be a "figure 8." I-70 West to Copper Mountain, then CO 91 over Fremont Pass to Leadville, then US 24 out of Leadville to CO 82, then over Independence Pass, through Aspen and up to Carbondale where I'd like to eat lunch (there's a nice diner there - I assume it's open with the usual rules.) From there, CO82 to Glenwood Springs, then East through Glenwood Canyon and I-70 to Minturn, then East on 24 over Tennessee Pass, through Leadville again and this time continuing on US 24 all the way to Buena Vista, then turning East and staying on 24 all the way to Woodland Park. From Woodland Park we could each make our way home (I would likely take 67 to Deckers and then all the way to Sedalia via Pine Creek Road.. This route does have 3 miles of dirt so if you're not comfortable on dirt you may prefer to either take I-25 from CO Springs or continue up CO 126 to Pine Junction and 285.
Let's meet at the Phillips in Morrison at 7:00 and go kickstands up by 7:30. Yes, I know that's early but this is an 8+ hour ride (Google says 7:46 but that doesn't count lunch.) Distance from Morrison to Woodland Park is 388 miles so if you live in the Denver area add about 70+ miles to that to get home.
So who's with me?
