Re: [emrat:15149] Tiger 800 gearbox issues

Steve: you may remember the last time we were in Sturgis, my Bonnie would not downshift. The cause was wear on the lever that moves the gears. The oe part was soft steel that wears. The replacement part was hardened steel. May be the same issue on your bike.

Good morning to all fellow Tiger 800 owners....

If there are anyone of you out there that has owned an 800 Tiger from years 2011-2017,did you at anytime received a recall notice regarding a shifting issue with the gearbox from Triumph( mostly down shifts)?Mine upshifts fine to 6th gear downshifting from 4th to 2nd turns into a major fight!!!The spring and the pin in the shifter mechanism is not at fault but there appears to be excessive free play at the shift pedal, which does not seem right.l did check a Tiger 800 forum and Triumph RAT.net,but no dice.

I have dis-assembled the clutch 3 times on this and checked on- line and took pictures proir to removal, but have gotten nowhere!

This started last April when the shifter broke at the crank case.Anything that l have over looked?

Currently, the bike is back together and l have no parts left over.A small spring on the shift paw broke back in 2023 and was repla ed.Just looking for feedback before l can devise a game plan for the Winter........
