Peter Sharp and I rode out to Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele UT to attend World Superbike a few years ago.  This was the year that the BMW S100RR was unveiled as well as the Kawasaki Concours 14.

At the race track, I approached two Utah State patrolmen who were sitting on BMWs.  I talked with them a bit and then asked how they handle sport-bike riders who try to elude them.

One patrolman, wearing sunglasses and a slight smile, answered: “They can’t outrun a radio transmission.  We’ll catch up with them down the road.”

A motorcycle driver topped 100 mph leading deputies on a high-speed chase on U.S. 285 before crashing into a guardrail in Morrison, according to the Park County Sheriff.

On Wednesday, a Fairplay police officer pursued a motorcycle northbound on the highway and aired a description.

Park County Sheriff Fred Wegener and a Park County sergeant pursued the motorcycle as it passed through Grant. At one point stop sticks were set up but the tactic failed to stop the motorcycle.

Park County notified the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office that the motorcycle was heading towards the county line. The motorcycle driver hit speeds up to 115 mph, according to a Park County media release.

As the motorcycle entered Morrison the bike hit a guardrail and came to a stop.

The driver, identified as Jordan Anthony Alarid, 22, of Northglenn, was taken to a local hospital, released, and arrested by Park County deputies.

Alarid, who posted bond out of the Park County Jail, has been charged with felony vehicular eluding, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, speeding and failing to drive in a single lane, the sheriff's office said.
