[emrat:2531] LEO Motorcycle Clubs

I’ve heard of another one, but because of a Sturgis “incident” several years ago.  I left on a Sunday to ride back and it happened late that night at the Loud American Roadhouse.

A Seattle cop, identified as an Iron Pig member, got into a fight with a Hells Angel from California.

The cop ended up on the floor with the Hells Angel kicking him.  The cop pulled his concealed gun and shot the Hells Angel, wounding him.  The cop was then charged with firearms violations.  I did not follow the story to find out the final disposition of the charges against the cop.

So am I think only one who thinks its odd that there is such a thing as a "law enforcement motorcycle club?"

Cops adopting the dress, mannerisms and lingo of self-described "outlaws?"  I guess I just don't get the attraction.

Of course, that's not as funny as the "Sons of Armageddon" whom I saw at the Childrens Toy Run in (I think) 2010 or 2011.  They, too adopt the trappings of a so-called "outlaw" biker group, complete with a beret-wearing skull superimposed over crossed pistols,  but actually go so far as to adorn their vests with a "99%" patch and to require potential members to undergo police background checks.

Recently, I drove alongside two guys on bikes heading east on Sixth Avenue through Denver who were wearing leather vests with this patch:

And the patches reminded me of the conversation that I had back at the end of October with a male nurse who was prepping me for my rotator-cuff surgery at the outpatient clinic.

Of course, we were talking about bikes and riding!

He told me that he was a member of “Smokin Guns” as he had been an EMT prior to becoming a nurse.
