[emrat:2559] Re: Sturgis Plans

Thanks Dan,

I did now see it after I posted. I will decide if I want to go it alone the original route, or maybe meet up on 76. I saw someone also post about meeting at a gas station up 76, so if that time is established I will chime in on my plans. I was staying through Thursday the 8th or Friday the 9th and heading back through Wyoming. I will stay at Creekside to start, but may also stay in Belle Fourche after folks move on earlier in the week. Gets me closer to Devils Tower by about 25 or 30 miles, which is one of my must sees. Never ever being in SD prior, I will be going to Crazy Horse and Mt Rushmore of course as well.

Hi Dan,

On my way back from Oregon, instead of returning to Denver I will probably go directly to Sturgis, arriving Thursday around 6 pm.  Keep an eye out for me since I believe you will be coming from Denver the same day.

Curtis, you do have a kilt, right?  If not, please order one, Black Watch, from Sport Kilt.

You can still wear the rest of the items that you list below . . . .

That's why we need to do the exact opposite. Collared white shirts, regimental ties, and a picture of the Queen emblazoned on the backs of our jackets.

So am I think only one who thinks its odd that there is such a thing as a "law enforcement motorcycle club?"

Cops adopting the dress, mannerisms and lingo of self-described "outlaws?"  I guess I just don't get the attraction.

Of course, that's not as funny as the "Sons of Armageddon" whom I saw at the Childrens Toy Run in (I think) 2010 or 2011.  They, too adopt the trappings of a so-called "outlaw" biker group, complete with a beret-wearing skull superimposed over crossed pistols,  but actually go so far as to adorn their vests with a "99%" patch and to require potential members to undergo police background checks.

Recently, I drove alongside two guys on bikes heading east on Sixth Avenue through Denver who were wearing leather vests with this patch:

And the patches reminded me of the conversation that I had back at the end of October with a male nurse who was prepping me for my rotator-cuff surgery at the outpatient clinic.

Of course, we were talking about bikes and riding!

He told me that he was a member of "Smokin Guns" as he had been an EMT prior to becoming a nurse.
