Hi There!

Below are our upcoming weekend opportunities, high-priority needs and School Supply Distribution!

Our Weekend Food Pantry volunteer shifts are great for individuals, families or groups up to 10 people, who like to work inside and outside. Volunteers unload, stock, and prepare the food pantry for the busy week ahead, as well as sort clothes and assist with other tasks as needed.

*NEW: Saturday shifts now run from 9am-1pm

*Sunday shifts still run from 10am-2pm

Teens and kids are welcome! Kids 13 and younger can help with stocking and sorting away from our dock, while teens can help with the high energy work of unloading and moving food. Parents/guardians are fully responsible for their children's safety and for keeping them on task.

Elephant Talk Help! Elephant Talk, our major food donor, will be delivering large loads of food Mondays and Thursdays between 10am and 2pm. If you (or your out of school high-schooler) are looking for a weekday opportunity, similar to the Weekend Food Pantry shifts, simply send me an email!

The Action Center is extremely grateful for the abundance of nutritious food we've received from Elephant Talk. The Action Center recognizes its responsibility to offset some of the expense in gathering this resource for our clients by contributing financially in this partnership. Your gift of $10/month will provide the transportation costs of more than 100 pounds/month of food from grocers and restaurants that might otherwise go to waste. School Supplies:

Pre-Pack: July 19 – August 1, 10:00am-2:00pm

Help pack the thousands of bags of school supplies that are needed for distribution to over 5000 local youth. We need 35 people for each shift and kids are more than welcome if accompanied by an adult!

Distribution: August 5 – August 10, 9:00am-12:30pm and 12:00pm-3:30pm

Assist families through all aspects of the distribution process. We need 35 volunteers and 6 HMIS computer volunteers for each shift. Kids, 12 and older, are more than welcome if accompanied by an adult!
