Hi, Everyone. As we discussed at the last RAT meeting, I will be leading a ride this Sunday, March 17th. This ride will be in memory of our riding companion and honorary BMW-riding RAT member Chuck Ferrari. For those of you new to the club, we did this ride last year, not knowing it would be Chuck's last club ride.
In any case, I'm still researching the charity aspect of it. I'll be "passing the hat" at the end of the run for a group donation in Chuck's memory. I hope to know something more concrete by Wednesday or so.
Specifics on the ride: We'll meet at the Sedalia Grille on US highway 85 (A/K/A Santa Fe Drive) and CO highway 67 in Sedalia, about 12 miles South of Littleton.
For those who want to mapquest or GPS it, the address is 5607 U.S. 85 Sedalia, CO 80135
Meeting time: Circa 9:30am
Kickstands up: 10:00 am.
Plan for about a 4-5 hour ride through the Eastern Plains and Black Forest region. For those who were on last years ride, I did a little bit of a "history talk" at some of our stops. I'll be doing the same this year with at least one or two different stops than the ones we did last year (I'm planning a slightly different route.) The ride should end around 3:00 or so in the vicinity of Elizabeth or Kiowa and we can take a late lunch there.
The route will be all paved, mostly county 2 lane roads and traffic should be minimal. With our warm weather forecast this week I don't anticipate snow/ice but of course sand is to be expected. Maximum elevation should be around 7700' and we will be crossing the Palmer Divide at least twice.
My phone number is 303-482-7848, and I can receive texts on that phone so text or call if you are on your way but may be late.
Hoping to see you all then!
Martin
