[The Network] Water / Heart Attack EXCELLENT Info from Mayo Clinic

  Good thing to know!
Mayo Clinic

How many folks do you know who say they don't want to drink anything before going to bed because they'll have to get up during the night!!

Heart Attack and Water - I never knew all of this ! Interesting.......

Something else I didn't know ... I asked my Doctor why people need to urinate so much at night time. Answer from my Cardiac Doctor -

Gravity holds water in the lower part of your body when you are upright (legs swell). When you lie down and the lower body (legs and etc) seeks level with the kidneys, it is then that the kidneys remove the water because it is easier. This then ties in with the last statement!

I knew you need your minimum water to help flush the toxins out of your body, but this was news to me.
Correct time to drink water... Very Important. From A Cardiac Specialist!

Drinking water at a certain time maximizes its effectiveness on the body:
2 glasses of water after waking up - helps activate internal organs
1 glass of water 30 minutes before a meal - helps digestion
1 glass of water before taking a bath - helps lower blood pressure
1 glass of water before going to bed - avoids stroke or heart attack

I can also add to this... My Physician told me that water at bed time will also help prevent night time leg cramps. Your leg muscles are seeking hydration when they cramp and wake you up with a Charlie Horse.

FYI: Mayo Clinic on Aspirin - PASS IT ON

Mayo Clinic Aspirin Dr. Virend Somers, is a Cardiologist from the Mayo Clinic, who is lead author of the report in the July 29, 2008 issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

Most heart attacks occur in the day, generally between 6 A.M. and noon. Having one during the night, when the heart should be most at rest, means that something unusual happened. Somers and his colleagues have been working for a decade to show that sleep apnea is to blame .

1. If you take an aspirin or a baby aspirin once a day, take it at night.
The reason: Aspirin has a 24-hour "half-life"; therefore, if most heart attacks happen in the wee hours of the morning, the Aspirin would be strongest in your system.

2. FYI, Aspirin lasts a really long time in your medicine chest for years, (when it gets old, it smells like vinegar).

Please read on.

Something that we can do to help ourselves - nice to know. Bayer is making crystal aspirin to dissolve instantly on the tongue. They work much faster than the tablets.

Why keep Aspirin by your bedside? It's about Heart Attacks -

There are other symptoms of a heart attack, besides the pain on the left arm. One must also be aware of an intense pain on the chin, as well as nausea and lots of sweating; however, these symptoms may also occur less frequently.

Note: There may be NO pain in the chest during a heart attack.

The majority of people (about 60%) who had a heart attack during their sleep did not wake up. However, if it occurs, the chest pain may wake you up from your deep sleep.

If that happens, immediately dissolve two aspirins in your mouth and swallow them with a bit of water.

Afterwards: - Call 911. - Phone a neighbor or a family member who lives very close by.
- Say "heart attack!" - Say that you have taken 2 Aspirins. - Take a seat on a chair or sofa near the front door, and wait for their arrival and ...DO NOT LIE DOWN!

A Cardiologist has stated that if each person after receiving this e-mail, sends it to 10 people, probably one life could be saved!

I have already shared this information. What about you?

Do forward this message. It may save lives!

The folks at Triumph have authorized a warranty replacement for the tranny and told my dealer they had never heard of that before.

Don't know if similar problems are causing the rest of you an issue.  I was getting some loud "clunks" as I shifted about the last 200-300 miles before it all just bound up, I skidded and went down when the rear wheel locked.  Fortunately I was going slow and nothing was hurt on the bike except a scratch on one saddle bag and a scrape on the clutch lever.  That is being replaced as part of this too.

[emrat:2431] June Meeting

Hello all,

Just wanted to send out a heads up:  The Rackhouse Pub is a sponsor of Film on the Rocks.  June 4th, they have a party bus leaving from the Rackhouse so the main room will likely be very crowded.  I have confirmed that we still have our meeting room.  It should start calming down closer to meeting time, as the bus(es) depart at 7:00.

Parking might be tricky, though.

TK,
As a matter of facts we were in 4 States, we were at the Four Corners!

Luckily I had some small hotties hand warmers in my bags that we stuck in our gloves to warm up our hands. We made it to the Black Canyon and spend a couple of hours there and then on to Montrose and a night at the Country Lodge across from the Black Canyon Motel.
The rest of the week was excellent weather with sun that we enjoyed while we went to the Four Corners and Mesa Verde and Monument Valley and Moab and Arches National Park.
We went home over Rd 46 to 90 to 141 over to Gateway and a visit again to the car museum and back to Montrose where we stayed overnight again at the Country Lodge, next day we took 50 back and did Steve's route backwards thru Woodland Park and Deckers to Pine Junction and 285 home. Total 1525 miles.
Magnus really enjoyed Colorado and I'm sure he will be back in the near future.
See you all next Tuesday at the Rack house!

Great seeing such a big turnout of RATs...made me realize how much I have missed riding with all of you.  And Norm, sounds like you had your own version of adventure riding!

See y'all soon.

I did make it home before that rain turned to snow but I was soaked to the skin as I figured it wasn't worth gearing up for 10 miles.  Probably not a good decision.   My house and driveway were snow covered on Monday morning and it was still snowing at the tunnel so I left the bike in Silverthorne and drove my pickup back.  It looks like it will be nice this weekend so I can spend some time cleaning the bike and hope it's decent next Tuesday to bring it back to Denver.  Gotta love Springtime in the Rockies.

Just so the folks that did not go don't miss out on the adventure stories, TK and his friend Andy got lost from the group (on purpose?) and ended up in Cripple Creek.  Always an adventure with TK.  Lunch at the Hungry Bear was as advertised!.

Sarah's new Street Triple was very cool.  Congrats on a good purchase.  Good to see Larry.  Tim took lots of pictures so we look forward to the posting.

My mistake.  For some reason I had thought Molly Dharma was a MaxFund charity like Lucky Mutt Strut.  I didn't realize it changed yearly. Good to know.  I will make a donation or add to one if we want to do a group one.

I don't think that Sara and I plan to go.  While it is a great cause, we already attended the Lucky Mutt Strut and contributed to MaxFund in that way.  Just a personal preference, but I am more comfortable around large groups of dogs than I am around large groups of bikes :)

I will likely go.  Here is a direct link to the page

Seems like you can still pre-register?  I though that was available until 6/3.

P.S. The form has a June 10th  date. Must be a typo since that would be a Monday.
