Re: [emrat:12446] Covid at Sturgis

I agree with Vince.  In a few months, the used bike market could be flooded with Harleys if Sturgis indeed becomes a "super-spreader event."   If I can buy a relatively new 1200 Sportster variant for peanuts, well . . . . I'll ask Curtis for advice.

One of the saddest news clips that I have recently seen, however, was of a young man in Texas in an ICU.  He had gone to a party titled a "Covid 19 party."

His last words were:  "I think I made a mistake."

I hope it does not happen, but there may be many Sturgis bikers who will think or say the same thing . . . I hate to think what will happen when they return to their homes, families, friends and jobs and unwittingly infect more people.

Finally, as an ex-journalist having paid attention to the news media coverage of Sturgis since 2005 when I first went, I have never seen so much national coverage of Sturgis as has happened this year.  A dubious distinction . . .

Re: [emrat:12445] Covid at Sturgis

I always wonder if these people experience regret. For example, when they get a brain injury in a motorcycle accident, do they say, "I wish I had worn a helmet?" or do they double down? When they're lying in the hospital on a ventilator, do they say, "Maybe masks aren't so bad after all"?

I'd like to be wrong about it but the reports and pictures coming out of Sturgis are troubling to say the least. They're acting like COVID is non-existent. It appears that no distancing is happening and it's unlikely that a lot of hand sanitizer is being used. There are reports that people wearing masks are being ridiculed. What could possibly go wrong.

Does this mean the 1% may be down to the 1/2%ers?  Seeing lots of Harleys in the mountains going in both directions.
