So unfortunately due to issues finding  rear tires in time for both of our chosen rides we will be driving my car instead. So if there is any beer or booze requests for me to bring let me know. I still plan on meeting up with you in the morning and following the route.

See you tomorrow!

All,

This year for the fall overnight ride we will be to traveling to Hot Springs, South Dakota the weekend of September 30th, 2017. The Plan is to depart from the Conoco fuel station just east of HWY 66 and I-25 at 9:00am on September 30th, 2017.

Once in Hot Springs we will be staying at the Super 8 and dinning at Woolly's Grill and Cellar. Below you will find information on the Super 8 and Woolly's Grill and Cellar. I'm still working on the route and will send it out once I have it finalized.

Depending on the time we arrive in Hot Springs we will visit the Mammoth Site which is next to the Super 8. If we don't have time to visit the Mammoth Site before dinning at Woolly's we will visit it Sunday morning before we depart for home. If you didn't know, the Mammoth Site is a museum and paleontological site. It contains the remains of fauna and flora preserved by entrapment in a karst sinkhole during the Pleistocene era.

All,

I just made the reservations for 14 at Woolly's Grill and Cellar. I estimate we will reach Hot Springs around 5:00pm so the reservation is set for 6:30pm. The weather is looking good for Saturday. However, we may have some wind for the trip home on Sunday. Below you will find who has responded that they will be riding along.

Remember, The Plan is to depart from the Conoco fuel station just east of HWY 66 and I-25 at 9:00am on September 30th, 2017. I can't wait to see everyone and I'm looking forward to a awesome ride!

Tavis,

With the route I have planned we're looking at 140 miles between fuel stops so we should be good.

So Amy is buying a new burgman and should be able to ride it this weekend for the trip. I am not sure what the range is on it so if you plan on gas stops and we need to stop more and catch up that's fine with us.

It is good to hear that you have been able to resolve you rear tire and will be riding along. I have to agree with you on single-sided swingarms. When is comes to any maintenance task everything is easier.

Below you will find the list of who has responded to let me know they will be riding along. At this time we have 11 riders and the 10 day weather forecast is looking great. I'm planning on making dinner reservation next Wednesday. So if you have not let me know that you will be riding along and/or your plans have changed please let me know before then.

Bob,

It is confirmed. I'm locked in now, with a room across the street at the USA Stay Hotel, it's NON-REFUNDABLE... so I'm definitely going!  Where's the beefsteak?

Performance has my rear wheel and new tire installed... YES! The first Metzeler Z8 that came in was the wrong tire. It was not Performance's fault, the distributor sent the wrong one, which I personally identified upon inspection. Remember, I got a tire in Grand Junction during the July 2017 TITR raid? Well, I was matching up the proper compound/build designation, of which there are at least four different Metzeler designs for the same size tire. I'm picking up the completed new tire assembly Saturday.

You know what? I really like the single-sided swingarm design on my Sprint GT! Very simple rear wheel removal. Yes, you need the correct size hex tool, but I had that from my '04 RS. Two different types of tools, in fact. Well, it took more time to find the tool (under my bike seat, ... duh!) than to perform the removal.

Now I plan to meet the 2017 Fall Dead Cow Dinner group  (aka: Ride 3 States For a Steak Gang) on the way to HOTSPRINGS SOUTHDA KODA, at the Conoco on I-25. Can't wait to see the Paleontological fauna and flora in a Karst sinkhole from the Pleiseastocene era. Personally, I'm wondering what future generations will think of the Cementacious-Assphalticus era that we have created. Oh, and enjoy a plate of properly aged roastbeast. :-)

Capt. Bob, add one Warfield to the group. That is, if my new rear tire shows up at Performance and gets mounted on Saturday. I will book a room and give you more feedback in the days ahead.

All,

I just talked with the Super 8 in Hot Springs and they only have 4 rooms left. So if you have not booked your room for the Fall Overnight ride I would book it soon. Also, you will need to call to book because if you attempt to book on-line Wyndham's web site shows no availability. If your not able to book a room at the Super 8 the USA Stay Hotel & Suites is within walking distance and below you will find its information.

Below you will find the list of who has responded to let me know they will be riding along. I plan on making dinner reservation next Wednesday or Thursday. So if you have not let me know that you will be riding along and/or your plans have changed please let me know before then.
