We have some folks who will be meeting at 8:30AM for a 9:00AM departure to Cripple Creek.  If anyone wishes to join us they are welcome to do so.  Just meet at the Conoco  South of C-470, on the West side of Santa Fe .

Our plan, at least as of tonight (plans always subject to change with group discussion in the AM) is to ride to Cripple Creek and then head up to Teller County 1 to Florisant, then take 24 toward Lake George and hop on Tarryall Road.

Which way we go from Jefferson, still TBD.

As an aside, I lead a group from my local club in Hilton Head to Barber in Birmingham last week (950 miles round-trip).  One of the riders was well north of 75 (years, not MPH) and is the anti-Dan, that is he's still riding his 1978 BMW that he bought new and rolled over the 800,000 mile mark while on the way back. Yes 800,000 that's not a typo.  He's changed tires 235 times and had the engine rebuilt twice.  He's hoping to make the million mile mark before he has to move to a trike!  Now that's a life well lived.

[emrat:7975] 2016 BMW Rallies

The MOA International Rally in 2016 is in Buffalo NY so I won’t be going next year.

However, the 2016 BMW RA rally will be held in conjunction with BMW’s 100th anniversary blowout at Laguna Seca in August, 2016, dates TBA.  Now that sounds like an event to attend.

Hmm...I like the Street Twin and the Thruxton.  The T120 black looks hideous, though.  Like somebody just took a rattle can of black primer to a nice looking bike.  I guess I can understand if you have an old POS bike, you might just rattlecan it black to cover up the rust and faded paint but to me starting off with the "junkyard apocalypse" look makes about as much sense as taking a ball peen hammer to the tank to give it some "authentic" looking dents.

I think it would have looked a lot better if they'd done like they did with the old Bonnie Black and put a gloss black tank and fenders on it - Shiny black looks good on a bike but flat black just makes it look unfinished.

Yeah, Yeah, I know that's what the kids are into these days but I swear whenever I see a bike painted in primer black or primer gray I think "Nice primer.  When are you going to get around to PAINTING it?"

I love the retro pancake air cleaner look like on the Pre 1970 models. I would be interested in upgrading to the T120 but not too thrilled about the two 2tone color choices but the Bonnie Black in Graphite don't look too shabby :o)

Very interested in riding the new t120, don't really care for the styling on the street twin, and still deciding on the thruxton redesign. Something with the the flow of the bike doesn't seem right, maybe its the tank indent. But it could just be bad pics. Definitely will have to see these in person.

Your around Hilton Head Norm? I spent many a days in Beaufort SC and have played golf on Hilton Head Island a few times. There are some great Civil War battery and large gun placement ruins around there, for MC ride destinations. A lot spray painted with graffiti, and dark, so bring a flashlight.  Ask some locals, they will point you in the right direction. And if you have never been, the house where they filmed The Big Chill and The Great Santini is in Beaufort.

I love the retro pancake air cleaner look like on the Pre 1970 models. I would be interested in upgrading to the T120 but not too thrilled about the two 2tone color choices but the Bonnie Black in Graphite don't look too shabby :o)

I also like the new color choices on the 2016 Thunderbirds, especially this one. just need to find another $16, 999.27 in my sofa cushions to pay for it.

Martin

Norm, think of the $1,500 tax differential as an entrance fee--well worth it!!-to the beautiful Rocky Mountains.  Seriously, however, did South Carolina give you a gun rack for your new pickup?

Here’s an issue for CACI- I bought a pickup in South Carolina, SC caps state and local sales tax at $500, saved me about $1500 to title it here, insurance and titling (prop tax and license) is cheaper too.
