As an aside, I lead a group from my local club in Hilton Head to Barber in Birmingham last week (950 miles round-trip).  One of the riders was well north of 75 (years, not MPH) and is the anti-Dan, that is he’s still riding his 1978 BMW that he bought new and rolled over the 800,000 mile mark while on the way back. Yes 800,000 that’s not a typo.  He’s changed tires 235 times and had the engine rebuilt twice.  He’s hoping to make the million mile mark before he has to move to a trike!  Now that’s a life well lived.
