[emrat:10057] 1st Sunday Ride

Hello everyone!

The weather looks great for Sunday the 3rd and that happens to fall on the first Sunday of the month!  Let's meet at Java on the Creek at 5600 Dartmouth Ave (just west of Sheridan on Yale.  I'll be there around 9:15-9:30.  We can decide where we want to go from there and shoot for a 10 am departure time.  Cheers!

Manuel

RE: [emrat:10056] 2012 Tiger

Hourglass are good guys. They are just across Lake Lanier from my parents house.

Norm is right in that the North Georgia mountains are great to ride in. You'll want to take Georgia 400 north up to Dahlonega and from there follow Ga 19 north til it splits with Ga 60. Then follow 19 over Blood Mountain. That will go up to Blairsville, GA. Nice ride through the mountains if you have the time. Or if you follow GA 60 through Suches, GA then to Mckaysville, TN.

Good Riding.

Jeff

Here's your plan:

Have Hourglass Cycles (Triumph-BMW Dealer) in Atlanta pick it up and get it running right.  Fly to Atlanta and pick it up there.  Ride the North Georgia Mts. and on to Chattanooga and then start the ride home through Nashville, St Louis, KC etc.  Best way to get familiar with your new ride.  Congrats.

Thanks all, for your input. I ended up purchasing the bike before coming back to Denver this week. It's currently sitting in the garage back in atl waiting for me to put together a plan to bring it here.

2012, 30k miles, owner previously by a 60-something year old guy who is active in the rat community. I fee pretty good about the bikes history.

It was hard to turn down since it had all be goodies. Givi airflow screen, trail lights, engine guards, skid plate, luggage, arrow exhaust, headlight guards, and so on.

With that said, on the short ride home I noticed the bike is real touchy off and on throttle with a lot of popping on decel. In addition, it will not rev above 6k rpm. My guess is it needs new plugs, clean filter, and probably has the wrong map for the arrow.

OK, Reservation made.

I got a double queen bed room so if anyone else is looking to split a room and hasn't made a reservation yet, let me know.  I'm staying through Monday 9/11 and riding back to Denver then.

RE: [emrat:10050] YikesI I missed Triumphs in Taos Registration!

Martin,

You can definitely still get in.  Sara and I just booked in tonight after she found late afternoon that her schedule changed and she actually has Friday September 8th off and has to work the 22nd instead.

Pam still has 1 Large T-shirt left and Kachina has some double queen non-smoking rooms left.

Jay,

I share the sentiments of the others and am excited to hear that your work is being exhibited to a wider audience. I am always amazed by your photography, it never fails to stir the senses. Although I will be in Canada Wednesday riding the Icefield Parkway( inspired in part by your presentation!) I'm sure that those in attendance will be just as impressed as the rest of us. Good luck and congratulations on the exhibit.

Hello Everyone,

Most of you have seen one or more of my presentations regarding my motorcycle travels.  I always devote a portion of my travels to capture unique scenes along the way, and I hope that shows in my travel photos.

I gain much satisfaction in sharing my photos, and I have a unique opportunity to display selected fine-art prints of my work this coming week at a special exhibit. It is one night only at a gallery just down the street from our usual meeting spot at the Interstate Café.  Everyone is invited to attend – here are the particulars:

August 30th (Wednesday), 5:00 to 8:30 p.m., at

Re: [emrat:10045] 2012 Tiger

Jake,

I have a 2012 XC with 54k miles which I purchased new. Over the 5 years I have owned the bike I have had no major mechanical issues.

All I have done is normal PMCS and services.

Overall I love the bike and highly recommend the Tiger 800.

I had a Fuel Exhaust Systems stainless muffler installed, which was quite loud with the removable baffle out.  Performance was excellent. Traded it for a new Bonneville; it had 13,000+ miles on it.  I never rode 2-up on it.  Wayne E.

It did suffer a major electrical fault and I had to have the main wiring harness replaced, in 2015.  TCA did not cover any of the costs for this repair.  I do not know if other Tiger owners have experienced any similar problems.  Needless to say, I was upset with TCA's response, however my local dealer, Erico Motorsports in Denver, CO, split the labor costs with me, which in manhours was quite substantial.

Dani and I have been talking about getting a tiger for some longer distance and off road fun.

Anyone have an opinion on the 2012 year model as far as reliability, comfort, etc? Are they solid high model bikes?

In other news. Had a great ride on my speedmaster this weekend. Took the long way from Atlanta, up through the tobacco fields of KY, and tooled around Louisville for a few days.

All,

This year for the fall overnight ride we will be to traveling to Hot Springs, South Dakota the weekend of September 30th, 2017. The Plan is to depart from the Conoco fuel station just east of HWY 66 and I-25 at 9:00am on September 30th, 2017.

Once in Hot Springs we will be staying at the Super 8 and dinning at Woolly's Grill and Cellar. Below you will find information on the Super 8 and Woolly's Grill and Cellar. I'm still working on the route and will send it out once I have it finalized.

Depending on the time we arrive in Hot Springs we will visit the Mammoth Site which is next to the Super 8. If we don't have time to visit the Mammoth Site before dinning at Woolly's we will visit it Sunday morning before we depart for home. If you didn't know, the Mammoth Site is a museum and paleontological site. It contains the remains of fauna and flora preserved by entrapment in a karst sinkhole during the Pleistocene era.

Re: [emrat:10043] 2012 Tiger

I had a '12 Tiger 800 ABS (cast wheels). I had the lowering links installed, as I rarely went offroad with it.  The bike was very good on dirt roads, too, however I never took it on jeep or single track roads.  I installed the Triumph accessory gel seat (not the pillion portion), which I found to be very comfortable. I had a Fuel Exhaust Systems stainless muffler installed, which was quite loud with the removable baffle out.  Performance was excellent. Traded it for a new Bonneville; it had 13,000+ miles on it.  I never rode 2-up on it.  Wayne E.
