[emrat:10484] First Thursday Bike Nights Banded Oak Brewery (475 Broadway Denver)

Well folks, the new riding season is upon us. And so is the first Thursday bike night @ Banded Oak Brewery (see attached). Should be a good one. Sounds like a lot of people are gonna make this one (weather hopefully cooperates). They do have a tent now, which helps with covered space. Food truck, and I think a band too! Brews, are as always, drinking well. Hope to see you all there. Been a while since I've been able to make an EMRAT meeting, so I miss the ugly and some pretty mugs. So share a mug with me and others at Banded.

Cheers,

Doc

A few Rats met up with John and Coulter yesterday at Banded Oak to ride to Palmer Lake.  Here's some of the bikes and John with his "new" 1962 Moto Guzzi Falcone 2 stroke freshly delivered from the Mercum MC Auction in Las Vegas.

Congratulations John, a sweet bike that really hauls ___.

[emrat:10480] Re: Another Bike

Jay,

Since you have had the bike for a few months, I am just curious what you think about the bike.

Your Explorer may be the only one in the group.  My wife says I can get a new bike and I am trying to decide on the 800 or 1200.  I am leaning toward the 800 XRX.

Hi fellow EMRAT members,

I  purchased a BMW R1200RT at the beginning of the 2016 riding season.  After returning from a 5,100 mile trip to Mexico in October, the bike has already garnered 23,000 miles in about 18 months.  Since I'm riding more than ever, I decided to spread the mileage with another bike and just added a 2013 Triumph Tiger Explorer to my garage.  This is my second Triumph – had a 2007 Bonneville when I first joined Triumph group.

Apologies - the bike in the attachment is clearly not a Tiger... try this attachment instead.

Hey Everyone,
Some of you may know me as "that guy that hangs out with Tavis and Charlie" or "that odd guy with the BMWs", or maybe just "Ryan", but through a comical set of circumstances I've found myself the owner of a Tiger (more on that later). But, with an already-full garage and a none-too-thrilled wife, this one has to go. Call or text me at 303-808-0420 with any questions. Leave a message as I don't get cell service at work and I'll get back to you ASAP.

Here are the details:
  • 2012 model year, approximately 15k miles
  • Venom Yellow
  • Recent 12k mile service at Triumph of Miami (Florida)
  • Nearly new TKC70 tires
  • Great condition mechanically and cosmetically
  • Power Commander V - seems to really give it a noticeable power bump over stock
  • Yoshimura RS4 Exhaust
  • Corbin Canyon seat - Charlie keister tested, Oklahoma boring approved
  • Givi Airflow windscreen
  • More pics here: https://imgur.com/a/NukTS
  • Asking $5900, but will happily entertain offers
  • Second owner, clean title
  • Charlie says it seems to have quite a bit more power than his Tiger and is great to ride. If he didn't already have a nearly identical bike in his garage I think he'd hang on to it.
Ok, so how did I acquire this? For the last three months I've been in Florida for work. I work on a weather satellite program called GOES-R, and we just launched the second in the series of four, called GOES-S (they don't get real creative with the naming...). Since I was there for three months, and it's Florida, I figured I'd pick up a bike and ride it home, and I managed to find a good deal on a BMW S1000XR (What a bike! It's no Triumph, though, of course). Charlie came down with some other friends to see the launch, and I managed to convince him to stay and ride back cross-country with me, with a plan to rent a bike from Eagle Rider. However, the Denver Eagle Rider location doesn't open until April, so we had to find another solution. The local BMW dealer in Palm Bay, FL had this Tiger that they had just taken in on trade from the original owner, a friend of the sales guy. They had it gone through at their sister Triumph dealership in Miami, so it was ready to go. Seemed like a good bike for a reasonable price, and was ready to roll for a cross-country journey. We had a great time riding back to Denver, and I have no doubt the Tiger will go on to make its next owner happy for a long time.

Thanks!

Re: [emrat:10476] Devils Highway Run June 2, 2018

I've ridden the loop they're doing on 3 occasions, once counter clockwise, and it's one of the great ones. It's a good full days ride, with enough corners to keep you well entertained. The traffic hasn't been an issue, but it's a popular ride for bikes on the weekend. I highly recommend it, but it's a good 700 miles to the starting point from Denver so make it part of a nice vacation if you can.

[emrat:10475] Devils Highway Run June 2, 2018

If anyone is looking for an excuse to ride the Devils Highway in Arizona, I found this.  I forgot to mention it at last nights meet up.

It looks like this is going to be a fairly casual meet and ride.
