Bike Night first Thursday.  Looks like the weather may not cooperate on Thursday, but I was going to go if the weather holds out.

[emrat:6648] Re: Chuck Ferrari Ride: By the numbers!

Thanks Martin for all the leg work for the ride. I missed last year, but did ride the first year, and enjoyed both of the outings. Love the history rides.

Was this a record for the Chuck Ferrari turnout? I thought the first year was as many people, for the missile silo history lesson, and the ride. None the less it was a great turnout, and a fun time both rides I participated in.

Thanks to everyone for coming out to our now 3rd annual Chuck Ferrari Memorial Ride to benefit the Colorado Humane Society.  I think we started with about 25 bikes from Sedalia for a gorgeous day's ride.  I realize the exit number for the restaurant in Pueblo was a little confusing, so I will chalk that one up to "lessons learned" and do a better job planning next time.  Still, I think everybody made it to lunch at the Shamrock Brewery and then over to the Pueblo Weisbrod Air Museum.  I counted 20 people and 20 bikes at the museum, which I think is a record.

Our ride was 98.1 miles from Sedalia through the Shamrock and to the Museum.  Ron and Norm rode back with me, we took a slight detour and went via US 50 to Penrose and then up CO 115 to Colorado Springs.  Our timing must have been perfect because we joined up with Steve, Bob and Denise for our ride through Colorado Springs and then we jumped off (onto the wrong exit at first) over to CO 83 and up to Parker, our total ride was about 222 miles from Sedalia to Parker.

Other numbers of interest:  The high temp was about 73 degrees and my top speed was ... uh, my top speed will be omitted on the advice of my attorney pursuant to the 5th amendment right against self incrimination.

As far as the collection, I have to say that the EMRATs impressed me again and I think the Colorado Humane Society will be impressed as well:  We collected a total of $450 in donations to a VERY worthy cause!

So thanks again to all of you for participating, and for donating to the Humane Society in memory of Chuck.  Even 3 years later I find it hard to believe he's gone - a guy like that has so much life in him that it's hard to imagine it ever getting away from him.

I'll post this on the Facebook page as well and will drop the donation off at the Humane Society after work on Thursday.

Take care and ride safe, and have a great 2015!

Martin,

Another incredible job coordinating this wonderful memorial to Chuck.  THANK YOU to all you EMRATs for your generous donations to Chuck's memory and charity of choice (Colorado Humane Society).  That is a lot of money to a good cause.  Chuck (and Nikki and myself) volunteered and adopted multiple dogs through the Colorado Humane Society over the years.

Thank you again to everyone.  I shared Martin's email with Nikki and will share it with Chuck's widow when she drops off the kids tonight.

What rear shocks do you recommend for upgrading over stock?  My max budget is up to $600-$700.

Based on your experiences, what do you recommend for custom built rear shocks?  Also, is it OK to do rear shocks first and front suspension later on?

Thanks Doc.  Spoke with Mike at Bella Corse this morning who was super helpful and very nice.  I have narrowed down the following three:

Gazi Sport-X
YSS Z-362TRL
Hagon Nitros

All three of these rear shocks offer everything I need and are within my price range.  The Hagons have more of the classic, vintage, and original Bonneville look whereas the Gazi and YSS have the Racing/Sport look.  I am leaning towards the Gazi Sport-X.

Have you heard anything about Gazi or YSS?

Looking forward to doing another ride soon!

Thanks

Hi Ross,

Yes, you can do rear suspension and worry about front later. If you are willing to spend a little more you can get basic adjustable suspension from Olins shocks. I would talk to Jonny at Erico for some recommendations. He may have them in stock too. Their was a pair of Olins for about $900.00 that were not fully adjustable that I passed on for the fully adjustable ones, but they would adjust plenty for you for road and track. Fully adjustable will run you just under $1,500.00 for Olins. There are other brands too like Race Tech & Hagon for example that may run you less. But Olins are the shite!

[emrat:6639] Re: Rear Suspension Modification - Bonneville

What rear shocks do you recommend for upgrading over stock?  My max budget is up to $600-$700.

Based on your experiences, what do you recommend for custom built rear shocks?  Also, is it OK to do rear shocks first and front suspension later on?

Thanks and look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Best,
Ross

[emrat:6637] Re: Here’s Your Chance to Buy a Real ‘Tron’ Light Cycle

That was the first bike (400X) I ever rode in the mid 70's. Loved it, though it was tough to ride. It's the bike that got me into MC's. Given to my dad by a relative and he did not keep it long unfortunately.

Hello fellow Rats!

Thinks are coming together for the Triumph in the Rockies event in Montrose 7/17-7/19!  Official announcement  coming soon, but I want to get a get opinion poll.  This year,  our awards dinner is going to be catered by the Camp Robber (named for a cheeky bird that is native to the area).  They have sent me a couple of options and I want to get an idea of what is preferred.  In registration, we will also have the option for individuals to request things such as vegetarian or gluten free.

For the main choices, however, e can pick Italian food or BBQ (Brisket and chicken) as the main courses.  They do EVERYTHING from scratch, right down to the salad dressing.  Please take a couple of seconds to go to this link and select one or the other.

Cheers!
