I will not be at the June meeting, I'm headed to Americade.

I will ask Jay and Dan too, but please announce at the June meeting that Vince Lane and I will be going to Sturgis, leaving Friday August 4th and returning on Weds the 9th and staying at the usual resort, Creekside Campground.

Update EMRAT's. We will leave from Erico Motorsports @ 11:00 (instead of 10). So it will be a 3 hour ride until the 2:00PM Weenie Road @ Banded Oak Brewery. I realized it was the same Sunday as the Moto GP viewing from 10-11:00AM at Erico. This gives us the ability to watch the race and challenge our own ability after, LOL. And shorten the ride a little too. So 10 fro the race, 11 for the ride. Then you weenies can roast at 2.

Fun filled day for sure if you do the trifecta!

News Tip: I hope you can run a story about the death yesterday of American motorcycle racer Nicky Hayden. I saw a one-sentence mention in today's edition of The Denver Post in the sports section. Tributes about Nicky are coming from around the world. Here's a link to the story in The Guardian:

There are many motorcyclists in Colorado who follow American and international motorcycle racing, and his death at age 35 from traumatic injuries sustained while bicycling in Italy has hit us hard.

I think I first saw Nicky Hayden race on a super bike in the AMA at Pikes Peak International Raceway south of Colorado Springs in 2002. I think it was in 2003 that he jumped to MotoGP.

In 2007, a group of us traveled by different routes, mostly on motorcycles, to Laguna Seca for MotoGP. This was the year after Nicky won the MotoGP championship, but he was clearly the favorite of the American fans. I recall that Casey Stoner won the race that day.

Our group included Brian Huculak, Keith Houghton, John Bortscheller, Bob and Denise Wendl, Peter Sharp and his brother, and Terry Ellstrom. Did I forget anyone? It has been a decade . . .

Anyway, ever since 2002-2003, I've watched many a MotoGP and WSBK race that included Nicky.

His loss leaves a big hole in the hearts of motorcyclists worldwide, witness the outpouring of comments from around the world on the many motorcycle-related pages of Facebook.
