[emrat:10813] 2 Extra Tickets to Gnarly Barley Brew Festival

I have two extra tickets to this Saturday's Gnarley Barley Brew Festival. Ticket includes a 4 oz sampling mug along with 12 sampling tokens (so that's 48 ounces of free beer if you did the math!). The Brew Festival brings together about 40 or so brewers from Northern Colorado and Denver areas. Live music and food. Festival takes places at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, CO. More info at http://www.treventscomplex.com/events/gnarly-barley

Send me an email at peltz.chris@gmail.com if you are interested in them.

Re: [emrat:10812] Beeline Moto navigation for motorcycles

It does.  Though I have to say that I like my Zumo and being able to see the map and find place/change routes from the device.  But this looks like a simple and less costly solution that will work for many.

Chris,

Hope your surgery goes well!  We missed you and a lot of others that weren't able to join us!  Those Margarita's are the bomb!  Take care!

I hear ya.  I would get another ride in before that too.  Buddy of mine had to have a wrist surgery due to pain/numbness last year, but he rode up to the day he had to get the operation done.  I guess there is no reason to extend the 6 months to any longer if you can help it.

It is "funny" you mention the panic attack's, because I haven't had one in awhile, but had a re-occurance while shopping at King Soopers a few nights ago.  I had to find a quiet corner until it passed.  My wife could see it coming on.

Best of luck to you with both!

Hopefully you get the back squared away.  I am about ready to see if I can get a spinal cord replacement surgery hahaha.

Moto Support Colorado Classic Vail Time Trial

I've been asked to find extra motos (up to 25 extra needed) to support the Colorado Classic Pro Bike Race Stage 2 Time Trial in Vail on August 17th. Basically they send out a motorcycle in front of every bicycle rider to help clear the way. No passengers will be carried, but a well running, relatively quiet motorcycle is requested. The course is a classic route that starts in Vail and goes up frontage roads and bike path to near the summit of Vail pass where you return down the access road for the runaway truck ramp and back to Vail to pick up your next rider. Gas, lunch, T-shirt and maybe some other swag will be provided. It's a great way to get involved with pro bike racing and spend a day on the motor.

If you are interested and available please let me know quickly so I can submit your contact info to those who are coordinating this.

There are also several other volunteer opportunities (non moto) available for the whole race if you or your friends are interested.

Thanks,
Dale

Chris

It was good to hear from you,the up-date you provided certainly provoked a lot of thoughts from me in regards to my well being.

Countinue to keep doing all the things that you have done up to this point, there is a means to an end!I had to pass on Montrose myself for this year (my dog tore up her ACL)!

Let me know when you will be able to make it to Coalmine Ave. Brewing, like to join you for a pint, but only when things are alligned,no rush.

Will still keep your place at the dinner table for your next overnight ride with the group, okay, more like EMRAT family, take care and keep us updated as time permits

Initially, this only happened every so often, but over the last year, the problem has gotten worse both in duration and intensity. Had a number of tests done and my recent MRI provided a clear indication of the issue. My C5-C6 in my spine is compressed to the point where the nerve is completely pinched and is causing the intense numbness, tingling -- and most recent -- loss of grip strength (something kind of important when riding a motorcycle 😁 )

I will be leaving from Colorado Springs around 3PM on Friday; I know that's pretty late but if anyone wants to convoy I'd welcome the company.  Route TBD and depending on what's currently not on fire.

RATS: With only 2 weeks to go it's probably not too early to start thinking about the ride out to Triumphs in the Rockies in Montrose.

Tentatively I'm planning on taking a long-ish route that will take me through the Eisenhower Tunnel and then on to Copper Mountain, over Fremont Pass through Leadville and then over Independence Pass to Aspen, up to Carbondale for lunch, and then down through Hotchkiss and Crawford riding the awesome CO-92 along the North edge of Black Canyon to Sapinero, and then West to Montrose.

Google Maps says 327 miles and a hair under 7 hours.

Obviously, with the fire in Basalt they may close CO 82 West of Aspen and if they do I'll have to come up with a different plan.  I may decide to stay on I-70 and go over Grand Mesa instead.

For those planning to take 285, just keep in mind that because of the fire in South Park they are diverting traffic just past Fairplay onto CO 9 to Hartsel and then West on US 24 to Johnson Village.  It's not a big detour (I don't think it adds more than 5 miles) but traffic can be heavy so be ready for it.

Departure time will depend on the route but my goal is to arrive in  Montrose no later than 5:00pm which will likely mean an earlier kickstands-up time (8:00 or thereabouts.)

I plan on going a more southerly route for the return on Sunday, 7/22.  I'm going to try to avoid all the traffic that seems to clog up both 285 and US 24 between Hartsel and Woodland Park.
