Sounds like you are getting good commercial advice.  On the "free expert" front, there is a guy who is an "Air Marshall" in Colorado.  Those are high-level volunteers to the Airhead branch of the BMW world.  His name is Dick Pashen,, Centenniel, CO,  303-721-6994, chief_whogas@yahoo.com.  He annually conducts an airhead training event in Colorado about working on airheads and he'll know a lot about problems and solutions.

   My wife was up in Wyoming for the Eclipse and ended up riding back with a guy on an older BMW airhead and is in need of some assistance. He is having some trouble with the carbs not refilling properly at speed.  He is going to head over to foothills this morning, but just in case they can't sort it out I wanted to reach out and ask if any of you know of someone who could help him out in short order. 

He is traveling through on his way to Maine from Tuscon, AZ. He was up in WY for the eclipse with some other folks, but is on his own now. It's always interesting the people you meet on the road, and to help out when you can. Someday that will be me in need and I would hope to run into a group like ours.
