Re: [emrat:9965] Eclipse 2017

Bri:  In all my excitement of preparing and going to Black Hills Rally # 77 I missed seeing your announcement.  Love the news about the T'Bird, I'm a big proponent of shopping the US for that right bike.  Can't wait to see it, and yes, Dan's been a bad influence on many of us.  But as I've often said, bikes are like dogs, they get lonely if there's just one in the garage.

Congrats on a great purchase.  Have fun in Bend,m too bad you won't be on your bike, great riding out there.

My wife Mary and I are driving to Bend, OR where we will meet up with a gang of Mary's friends that includes an astrophysicist whose hobby is chasing these events around the world. Apparently he and his space geek friends will have lots of toys available to view the eclipse.  Obviously, I'm not part of this planning (which has been in progress for about a year) but I guess we have access to open space somewhere north of Bend where we will experience "totality."  Yes, I'm psyched.

P.S.  I just purchased a 2004 Triumph Thunderbird Sport on Ebay from a seller on Long Island, NY.  My many days and years of hanging around with Mr. Pilcher have finally caused me to do irrational things.  Anyway, it's scheduled to ship next week.  Looks like it's in great shape.  Only 1300 miles.  Fingers crossed that everything goes according to plan.

If you didn't know, on August 21st, there will be an eclipse viewable by everyone in North America.  The path of totality will follow a line from Oregon to South Carolina.  I had intended to take a vacation day for Monday the 21st, ride up on Sunday and motorcycle camp. My son has seized the opportunity to miss a day of school so I am now driving with the wife, son and dog. Current expectations are that traffic is going to be a cluster suck getting to and from the path of totality on Monday the 21st.   This is a once in a lifetime event, if you have a chance to view it.  If you decide to stay in Denver, the moon will provide about 93% coverage of the sun

I will be camping out near Alliance, Nebraska at the venue of the Alliance Toad Stock Festival.
