Yesterday morning, my neighbor and his friend and wife took off for Sturgis.

I rode with them to Leadville. The last time I was in Sturgis, was with Ron and some friends about `83-`84. Ron had a R100RT, and I had a R100RS (`82,s)

In the picture, there is 100k worth of new H.D,s and a few grand worth of H.D. apparel.  Plus a 16 year old BMW, and $20 worth of apparel.

Obviously, some people prospered more than me ! (Dennis, in pic has 18 H.D.`s counting the one he just bought from Ron)

When Ron and I were in Sturgis last, most men had an old H.D., a jean jacket, and the girls were so poor, they could only afford "Halter tops" & "Chaps". (sigh) A couple in Chugwater Wy. was putting oil in his old H.D. and it was running out almost as fast as it was going in.

His wife`s seat was an Indian blanket on the back fender. My guess is they were both in wheel chairs by the age of 40 ??

Times change, but the best line in the commentary about Sturgis was (IMO)

"We are allowed to make our own choices, if we get it (Covid) we chose to be here)
