Re: [emrat:5974] Re: Children's Hospital Annual Toy Run

Doc; so far it looks like just you and me.  I posted on the EMRAT facebook site, and Mannie replied that he hasn't gotten any input.
An alternative to the I70 Denny's would be the Village Inn at Chambers Rd. and E. Colfax Ave.  It is closer to the Aurora Sports Park.  We could meet there at 9 AM and have plenty of time to make the Toy Run.

In the past, I have attended the gathering, and then left to go on a ride instead of the Toy Run.

Any other EMRATS interested?    Wayne E.

I did register as well. I'm up for meeting prior. Not sure where other RATs are in terms of meeting. I thought Tim G mentioned meeting prior and maybe posting something beforehand. I think the Park opens to start lining up around 09:00 and all bikes need to be in by 10:00. I think it starts at 11:00. Didn't we all meet a couple of years ago at Denny's @ I70 & Peoria?

If there is a meeting place and any details of any riders let me know.

Thanks

Doc; I registered yesterday at the HD shop on I70 and Airport Rd.  I haven't seen anything on the EMRAT sites yet about meeting for breakfast beforehand.  Wayne E.

RE: [emrat:5970] 08 Triple cluster wiring replacement?

Curtis' suggestion to search TriumphRat.net is a good one.

You might search locally or on the net for a vendor of the connectors or a vendor that makes a similar connector in size and number of wires.  Then you can splice that in by solder and heat shrink tubing.  Then use tape or thin foam or rubber to prevent the rubbing on replacement.  Chances are pretty good the friction and short caused the female side to malfunction, not the current itself.

Subject: [emrat:5967] 08 Triple cluster wiring replacement?

Hey All,

I've been having intermittent issues with my  08 Triple, the instrument cluster would occasionally lose power, causing the bike to freak out / stall / fail to start  (ECU on 05+ requires cluster to be present to run)

Debugging this, I found a problem with the wiring coming off the cluster,  but *not* in the usual place near the steering headset -- rather, underneath the tank where the instrument cluster wiring connects to the main bike wiring harness.
-  the "male" side of the connector from the gauge cluster was rubbing against something, and wore the wiring through, right at the base of the connector. Tried re-soldering but not enough slack to work with.

- the "female" side of the connector coming off the main harness looks like it's melting around one pin -- not sure if this is due to issues with the other end or an actual over-current problem.

I have some pictures @ http://imgur.com/a/921t8

It looks like Triumph only sells the entire wiring harness as a whole, and it's quite expensive!
eBay turns up lots of main wiring harnesses, but not the instrument cluster wiring.

Wondering if any of you guys/gals might know of a wrecked Triple or a shop around DEN that would have just the instrument cluster wiring I could buy? I'd like to try cutting this one out and replace it.

Any info appreciated, thanks!

Have you posed the question on triumphrat.net?

It looks like this place more specializes in BMW, Ducati and Moto Guzzi, but it might be worth a phone call anyway: http://www.euromotoelectrics.com/ The nice thing is they are local, and maybe could direct you to someone more Triumph-oriented.
