My BMW F800 used to do the same thing.  Totally unpredictable when it would happen. Had everything checked (multiple times) and Foothills could never find anything wrong. I searched the F800 message boards and found many others with similar issues.  It was one of the reasons I ended up selling that bike several years ago.  What good is an "adventure" bike that is unreliable near home let alone in the middle of Moab?!
