Hey you RATs,

After the July shin-dig in Montrose, I'm looking to make a trip up to Boise, Idaho and visit my old riding buddy, Tom Shader.  Ya, that 3-Flags guy.

If anyone has some awesome route suggestions for the trip to Boise, let's talk after the RMRAT meeting, or fire me an email with your ideas. It would be helpful and appreciated.  You can share your suggestions here with the group, or contact me directly at warfman2@comcast.net

Thanks,
Dave

The weather near Nederland (8,300') has turned, and it ain't good. Frankly, it's too foggy to go anywhere. See you next month.

If you have time, swing thru Colorado National Monument on your way to Fruita.

Dave,

For your post montrose ride, there are only a handful of ways to go assuming you're sticking to back roads.

I would recommend heading out to Vernal then cutting north to Flaming Gorge. Then west to Manila and head north on 530 to green river to take a scenic route of the gorge. From green river you can either head west, or cut back south on 191 and head back west on 44 if you want more Gorge.

Either way you'll end up near Kenner heading west on 30. I would go all the way to garden city and take 89 north past bear lake. From there pick your route up to Lava Hot Springs.

I'd then head north up to Arco and take 26 west past craters of the moon. Absolutely worth the stop and ride through if you haven't been here before.

Hope that helps.
