Hello RMRATS. It has been a while since I've been in the loop. As a few of you know, about two years ago I took on a project to photograph the state capitol buildings in all 50 states. I just completed state #46 so I'm getting near the finish line. I've traveled about 70K miles for the project so far and shot almost 22K images. Needless to say--despite a remarkable journey--I'm ready for it to be done. Which turns my attention toward 2025 and what I hope will be more time on a motorcycle and a lot less time in airplanes. And with that in mind, and at the surprising (to me) age of 72, I think it's time to buy "the last bike." So, I need to sell my beloved 2015 Tiger 800 XRX. This has been a remarkable machine, taking me to Seattle and back with the Pilcher crew, and with my riding partner, baby brother Patrick, around Lake Superior, up to Glacier and all parts in between, to mom's house in SW Michigan, around the incomparable roads of Southern Utah and last year up to Lolo Pass, down through Bend, OR to the Pacific at Mendicino and home past Lake Tahoe and another run down Hwy 12 in Utah.
Through it all, the Tiger has been flawless. But now I feel like I need a bit more underneath me for the long hauls and the new GS 1300 looks like the ticket. Sadly, as I'm very brand loyal, I can't get on board with the new Tiger T-Plane engine so the 1200 isn't the answer.
My black Tiger 800 is well-cared for, has just over 24K miles on her, and she received the required full service at Foothills earlier this year. In addition to the standard XRX package, she has dealer-installed heated grips, windshield deflector extension, full engine and upper bodyguards, fog lights, sweet-sounding Leo Vince slip on exhaust, and Bumot Defender hard case mounts with locking tool box (I'm keeping the panners for the new bike--a new replacement set costs $515 at ADV Motorrad). She is ready to run and she runs like a dream.
RMRAT Price: $5000 (firm at this price)
