Correct, Iron Butt Steve, you would not want to put hard panniers on a 955i Daytona and slow it down, let alone ruin the looks of the bike.
Just do as the great Peter Sharp did when he rode his T595 in 2007 to Laguna Seca for MotoGP and then to Seattle and back to Denver. Carry all you need in a fanny pack. Which, for Peter, was just a can of Silkolene chain lube, and he religiously cleaned and lubed his chain every night.

It should be noted that Sprint 1050 panniers will NOT fit on a 955 Daytona either without a lot of modifications tomake it extremely ugly. And somewhat slower too.
