Re: [emrat:12575] FJR 1300 Recall

I hear you Steve on the "isolating" part!My brother and l have not seen each other since August 2019.Been trying to plan a trip to England, with the intent of meeting old friends  in memory of my parents, but England have in the neighborhood of 26 million suffering from the new strain of covid.

In regards to you sledding, l overlooked one very important detail, you need to get back up to the top of your driveway.l am also uncertain if Mrs.Smith will approve of this endeavour ...
In light of this, stay up top and enjoy the views, mormancy can not get here soon enough!Cheers....

We live amongst a bunch of old people who are isolated from their grandchildren. If anyone is going to be sliding down this hill it'll probably be me!

E-Steve,

I'm aware of the recall on the FJRs, but it doesn't effect my bike. I bought mine in June 2014, well before the new 6 speed transmission was introduced for the 2016 model year. I guess that by cramming another gear into the same transmission space was a bit of an overreach. Thanks for your concern but I don't think Mrs. Smith will be seeing a new FJR in the garage anytime soon!

Ride safe, I'll be stuck at the top of my snow covered driveway for a little while longer.

A buddy of mine just posted on his Facebook/Face plant account about a re-call on FJR1300 built between early December 2015 and December 2020 issued by the NHTSA.Reason for this is the the second gear dog can "break" while the engine is under heavy load.Recall number that was showing is:990141,so l am curious which route is cheaper for Yamaha: motor re-build,engine replacement or, feel like an extreme long shot, new FJR?!!!

Let us know how this pans out, be safe out there.....
