I have heard great stuff about the Yamahas. Probably not a bad choice to get started.

Subject: [emrat:13142] Dual Sport Quest continues: Yamaha WR450F
So I'm still looking for a D/S. Came across a low mile Honda XR650L but I'm seeing some really mixed reviews. After going back and forth I really think the XR650 is too heavy and too tall for my first D/S.
I see several street-legal Yamaha WR450F's on FB Marketplace. Seems like it checks the boxes: Electric start, street legal, light weight (under 300lbs) and good performance.
So what says the group?
