He summed it up as a semi-rough road of some sort. But I can't believe he's a serious rider…   

Nobody that has a lick of sense rides bare handed. That's just stupid every day of the week. Period. 

Even a minor mishap, on any ride, and the first thing we do is put our hands out to protect ourselves from the hit. With gloves, you'll might still have some kind damage. Without gloves your palms are now meatballs, embedded with nasty granular stones. Your fingers and knuckles are trashed so bad you can't hold a wad of TP to wipe your own ass, pick your nose, or worse, push the buttons on your I-phone or computer or whatever. Enjoy that recovery. 

Maybe that was a little graphic. Oops, that's the point I was trying to make. Ride with a pair, of gloves.
