For the curious, turns out my GS's taillight/brakelight out was due to both a bulb total fracture (globe and glass stem both separated from bulb base, filaments still intact!) and a taillight fuse out. Presume the fuse blown due to some shorting mode when the bulb was breaking, but just my best guess. Taillight assembly had been flopping around before replacing the mounting grommets last spring, so likely root cause. New bulb is a mechanically stout LED type and fuse replaced, so back in business.
