Besides myself the other two that I'm aware of being interested are Tim Green and Darren West. I  may be missing others. 

I think that planning for two weeks is realistic. If you want to minimize time away, figure two days travel to the start and from the end. I wouldn't recommend that though, it's a lot of riding and you might regret a tight schedule. Riding is supposed to be fun!

Regarding budget, that is dependent on your individual choices in food and lodging, how many days you'll be on the road, and the fuel prices next year. I plan on about $2,000. I don't usually spend that much but I don't stress about running out of cash either.
