Re: [emrat:9481] Burt Monroe

He is.  I used to love going to visit Ed Kretz Jr., with him, before Ed Jr's passing.  They knew each other well and would tell a lot of stories about Ed's dad, Ed "Iron Man" Kretz, as well as some stories about Burt Monroe, Steve McQueen, other motorcycle legends and motorcycling in general.

If you ever want to reach out to him and talk motorcycles, Roy would be happy to chat.  Over 2 million miles and 72+ years of riding, he has seen a lot hahaha

Thanks, Sean.  From the article, it's clear that Roy is a very unique individual in the world of motorcycling.

You could ask Roy Blakney, in our RMMRC club, if you really want to know.  He might be able to help you out.  He has met Burt Monroe, while living in New Zealand and manufactured a carb float for one of his bikes. He also serves on the Advisory Panel for the Barber Motorcycle Museum and a handful of smaller ones.  He loves to chat about that kind of stuff and I am sure would be happy to discuss.

Roy is a bit of a character himself hahaha

I took this photo of Burt's Indian at E Hayes, an amazing store in Invercargill, South Island, New Zealand, a couple of years ago.  When I posted this photo to the BMAC, a spirited discussion arose as to whether or not this was the "real deal" because Burt had several Indians apparently and ran them at Bonneville in different years.  Staying out of the weeds of this debate, I still felt like I had seen up close the Holy Grail of motorcycling.
