Talk about "Good News // Bad News". What a physical and emotional roller coaster!! At least this last step was good> Glad to hear things are turning up.

Subject: [emrat:3450] News from Doug Perkins
Doug asked that I pass the following message from him to the EMRAT gang:
Dan
All,
I continue slow progress on my neck and knee. At least I'm not wearing any neck or knee braces anymore. Thank goodness; I had that neck brace on for 6 months. Unfortunately, having my ACL reconstructed and meniscus repaired has resulted
in unimaginable pain in therapy. The knee is as good as new, they tell me, I just have to work through the pain to get my range of motion back. Surprisingly, my neck is not as painful, but I've only got about 60% of the motion I used to have. The broken
bone in my foot healed months ago, but all breaks seem to continue to bother you at times.
I was cleared to return to work, with physical restrictions on the October 28. Returning was great, everyone welcoming me back and all. They even had a new position for me in IT. Then about an hour later I was told I was wanted in a
conference room, by myself and without any team members. This was really odd. Turns out I was laid off. They said it was purely a matter of financial issues, not meeting their bottom line set by the parent company, Superior Energy Services. All I was allowed
to do was gather my physical belongings and was promptly escorted out of the building. My immediate boss did not even know about the layoffs. In all 200 were let go across the U.S.. Of course the timing could not have been worse; my severance was a mere
two weeks' pay.
So, looking for a job is what I have spent the last two months doing, while healing, and continuing physical therapy. Consequently, I've not been at my best. However, I received an offer (finally) this past Monday, two days before Christmas;
what a gift! I immediately accepted and start work this coming Monday, December 30. And, it is a 7% pay increase over my last job.
Anyway, I really appreciate everyone's support; it has helped tremendously. Thank you all very much.
Best regards,
Doug
