Dan,
Back during one of the early Steamboat Rally's, Trip Miller rode such a bike, black also, from the Erico fleet. One of the days we rode out to Steamboat Lake and he and I swapped bikes on the way back. Among other moments I had a chance to whack the Daytona through at least 3 and a half gears on an open stretch and remember it as having a great well of torque that just kept pulling with each gear change. No uninvited wheelies, just a strong composed continuous pull, definitely stronger on top than my '00 955 Speed Triple. Seems like 120 or so was deemed prudent at the time and I remember grinning big time.
So I recommend you go out and give it some cane, then plan on calling Tripper to swap lies and see what he has to add to the experience!

About time you rode a proper black motorcycle. Very nice.

The light is right but the background is . . . junky. Jay would never photograph one of his bikes against such a terrible background.
