NBCSP (Comcast Channel 689) on Monday begins carrying daily updates of the Dakar Rally, running first 3:30-4 pm and then being repeated at other times. There are four vehicle categories: cars, trucks, quads—and motorcycles, of course.
This year, the Rally is going to only be run in Argentina and Bolivia. Peru bowed out to prepare national responses to anticipated disasters from bad weather due to El Nino.
Of particular note is the fact that, on the Red Bull KTM factory team is the top-ranked woman, Spanish rider Laia Sanz, who finished in the top ten last year.
Grueling and dangerous are inadequate words to describe what the riders will go through during the Dakar Rally.
The Dakar Rally also has a very good app. Just in case you want to keep track in real time when you should be working. ( I guess this comment doesn’t apply to Norm, Ron, Larry, Rich, etc.)
