Re: [emrat:8512] CHUCK FERRARI RIDE IS A GO - SUNDAY APRIL 10TH

I thoroughly enjoyed last year riding down to the Aviation museum in Pueblo so kinda bummed that I cant join you all tomorrow but Im finally taking a class at United Dirt Bike School out in Strasburg. I originally signed up last September after Dan Pilcher sent out the details but had to cancel due to it being the same day as the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride. We subsequently rescheduled for Nov, Feb then March but all got cancelled due to snow. Finally the conditions are good enough!

Hope you all have a safe ride and I will try not to break anything :o)

Subject: [emrat:8503] CHUCK FERRARI RIDE IS A GO - SUNDAY APRIL 10TH

The 4th annual Chuck Ferrari Memorial Ride is a GO for Sunday, April 10th.

We will meet at the Conoco in Morrison, kickstands up at 9:00 AM.  We will ride to Woodland Park on CO-126/CO-67 and then ride down through High Park ending up in Canon City at Skyline Drive.  Ride time from Morrison to Canon City should be ~ 3 hours with a fuel/regroup stop in Woodland park at the Conoco on Highway 67 just before it hits US 24.  Distance from Morrison to Woodland park is about 70 miles and distance from Woodland Park to Skyline Drive is about 60 miles.

Right now the weather forecast is for partly cloudy skies in the morning with a chance of rain or thunderstorms later in the day, so bringing rain gear is advised.  High temp Denver is forecasted as 69, high in Woodland Park is 61, high in Canon City is 76.

Highest altitude on this ride will likely be around Ute Pass / Divide at about 9100' so be prepared for cold temperatures.  We should get to Skyline Drive around noon, and there are a bunch of places in Canon City for lunch.  My portion of the ride will end in Canon City and at that point people will be on their own to get back home.

Bonneville Bob Tapper rode part of the route last week and confirmed that there will likely be sand in the corners, so watch out for that.

I will be taking donations for the Colorado Humane Society, which was one of Chuck's favorite charities, and they do lots of good work.  I will take the donations over to the Humane Society some time next week.

If anybody's got any questions, please let me know.  If I can get a tentative head count that will help me make sure that we have everyone with us when we gather in Morrison.
