Re: [emrat:8565] Great destination for a bike ride for old car nostalgia in Iowa

I've been there -- there's several big rooms like this.
Lots of nice local vehicles, really awesome decor, and the "guides" I got were pretty knowledgeable about the cars.

I'm from the area, if you find yourself in Iowa for some reason, it's a nice place to be ... here's the tourist guide:

Lots of camping and "resort" places to stay for a weekend. You can camp on/near a lake, bring mosquito repellent.
There are several glacial lakes, known as the "Great Lakes of Iowa" -- worth a swim on a hot summer day
*tons* of beaches to choose from, my favorites are Pikes Point and Gull Point on West Lake Okoboji

Take a walk around Arnolds Park and onto the pier in the evening --  usually concerts or shows, and there's no shortage of bars/eats within walking distance.
Try "Hey Good Gookies" or Okoboji Fudge Factory for local coffee and treats
Try Okoboji Brewing Company or West O Beer for local brews

Ride down Lakeshore Drive / 213th Ave -> Highway 71 -> Highway 86 to loop around West Lake Okoboji for nice scenery.
Ride around 240th->270th Ave too loop around Big Spirit Lake and get your dose of cornfields and bugs smashed on your helmet ... nice views though.

If you're into classic car destinations, add Hooked on Classics in Watertown, MN to the list
They have what might be the biggest sign collection I've ever seen, a friendly owner, and awesome car collection

I was thinking more for those maybe already heading that way towards MN or WI possibly. I would not make that trek either just for the car museum. But to each his own, right?
