RE: [emrat:9534] Original Bullitt Mustang

I was raised Catholic, Father Steve.  Thus, you can understand that guilt is a heavy, heavy burden.

Perhaps I can confess to you tonight my latest sin?  I desperately need some absolution and forgiveness.

Dan,

If I were a psychologist I might be tempted to think that your dedication to finding and restoring old Triumphs is your way of atoning for the sin of Aerostar ownership. But I'm not, so I won't.

I don't know how many bikes you need to save to make up for that, but it would have to be a lot.  Not that you're doing that, just saying.

I mean a WHOLE LOT!!

Not that you are of course.

Iron Butt Steve, it was a dark period of my life when I lost my compass of life.  That explains the Ford Aerostar.

I did ride the TR6 to Steamboat Springs in the summer of 2002 for my first RAT Rally.  No one else rode a classic/vintage Triumph.

I could not understand why all the Hinckley bikes started, did not leak oil, nothing fell off and they did not break down . . . plus they went fast and did not vibrate.

Therefore, I did not think that they were "real" Triumphs.

But, in early 2003, I bought the 2001 Speed Triple and the rest, as they say, is history . . . .

Dan in a minivan? I have to assume that you only used it to haul your Triumph TR6 out to track days and were never seen driving it to a soccer field!

Please don't tell me if I'm wrong, I couldn't bear it...

I think you are all wrong.  Dan, you should trade that in on a Bronco II and swap out the v-6 for a 5.0.

Actually, Chris, I'm going to restore it.  Only Brian Weberg understands me.  My family does not.

Dan - not impressed. You have a very old model. My 1997 Ford Explorer, also with 250,000, is a rare find - especially in the color green. While KBB says its only worth $971, I am positive that I can get 10x that value with the right buyer. Why hold on to that old '96 model? Time for an upgrade to a '97!!

This is why I'm holding on to my 1996 Ford Explorer, which has almost 250,000 miles on it.  I'm not going to go looking in a junkyard for it!  I joined the Church of the V-8 Ford when I was 13 years old . . . . . which probably explains a lot.
