As previously promised (threatened?), I am announcing the plans for the annual spring overnighter, and this year it will be Saturday, May 20 in Buena Vista. The downtown area is pretty nice, and there are a few different eating and drinking establishments, including a newer brew pub about a block south of Main St. Additionally, there is a public park right on Main and US 24 which is surrounded by the three motels listed below which we use if we want.

The exact route will be determined by the weather forecast. If the weather is good, we will wander around the mountains a bit before we hit BV so that we can enjoy the ride. If it's not so nice, we'll stay off the higher elevations, including skipping the higher passes. 

The hotels I contacted weren't open to blocking off rooms because there is a high school graduation that weekend. I wasn't able to procure a special rate either, so we will be doing things a bit differently than in the past. These 3 motels are within a block of each other in downtown BV and you can decide which one suits you the best. 

The options are:

Pinion Court Cabins, 719-395-2433

Topaz Lodge, 719-395-2427

Lakeside Motel, 719-395-2995. (They have a strict no smoking policy so any smokers should not book there.)

If none of these choices meet your minimum requirements, there are a couple of other places a little farther away, like a Super 8 or Best Western. None of them is very far from downtown.

Anyway, let's all hope that the weather cooperates (as always) so we can start another great riding season in Colorado together. See you all soon!
