[The Network] CDHS Seeking Statements of Support for Full Child Support Pass-through

Currently, there is a full child support pass-through proposal that the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) is deliberating on submitting as a decision item for the Governor's consideration in the fall. This would mean that 100% of current child support payments would be given to Colorado Works recipients, rather than the government retaining the money as payment for benefits received by the respective families. Research has shown that a full pass-through is much more beneficial to the families and the program as opposed to passing-through a lesser amount. The proposal will request that General Fund dollars be used to back-fill this money to the counties so that they do not lose this source of funding.

Right now we are looking for supporters to submit a short testimonial or statement of support (a sentence or two) on how they feel the proposal would benefit welfare recipients and the community as a whole. Please submit to Christi Casiano atchristi.casiano@state.co.us by Friday, June 14th
