Manny sent an email on this yesterday:

Hello all,

Friday morning, I plan on departing the Conoco in Morrison (the big station that is just west of C-470) at 9:00 am.  I figure that is early enough to get us into Taos at a decent time and the Conoco has a nice big lot.  The route will be the same as last year, so that we can get there and plan out rides around the area for Saturday and socialize.

We'll stop in Woodland park for gas and lunch in Poncha Springs likely between 12:30 and 1:00.  From there, we'll head south to Alamosa, then east to Fort Garland, then South to Taos.

I generally keep a pace that is friendly for the more leisurely riders.  Please let me know if you plan to join me.  If you need to get hold of me, you can also call or text 303-903-2343.  Hope to see you there!

Re: [emrat:5598] Fw: Long way back....

Martin; cool ride, can't do it all.  I will probably split off at Chama, and head for my sisters' place NW of Walsenberg for SUN nite.  If anybody else wants to take this route, flange up (oil field trash talk) w/me at the EMRAT meeting.  Wayne E.

Just FYI for those who might be interested in accompanying me on "the long way back" from Taos on Sunday, September 7th:  I have booked a room with two double beds at the Rodeway Inn in Delta.  If anyone is interested in staying there, please let me know, cost should be about $25 each if two of us stay there.

My planned route on Sunday will be as described below (Taos to Chama to Pagosa Springs to Durango, over the Million Dollar Highway and then through Montrose ending up in Delta.)

Planned route for Monday the 8th will be Delta to Grand Junction to Fruita (West) up over Douglas Pass (CO highway 139 - a great, very lonely, twisty road!) to Rangely, then East on CO 64 to Meeker, then North on CO 13 to Craig, East on US 40 to Hayden, just past Hayden, SE on County Road 27 to Oak Creek, then South on CO 131 to Toponas, then East on CO 134 over Gore Pass to Kremmling, then East on US 40 through Hot Sulphur Springs, Tabernash and Winter Park, over Berthoud Pass and back to Denver.

Total distance/time for Sunday should be  330 miles/7 hrs and total distance/time for Monday should be 450 miles/9 hrs (not counting break/stop times obviously.)

Manuel:  As usual, I am planning a "long way back" trip.  Right now I'm tentatively thinking of taking US 64 to Chama, then 84 to Pagosa Springs, then 160 to Durango and 550 up the Million Dollar Highway through Montrose and ending up in either Delta or Grand Junction, overnighting there on Sunday.  Monday I would ride Douglas Pass from Fruita to Rangely, then over to Meeker, up to Craig, and then down through Oak Creek, over Gore Pass and finally through Hot Sulphur Springs and WInter Park, returning to Denver via US 40.  Do you want to go that route with me?

Anyone else?

Re: [emrat:5593] who's up for a local ride this weekend?

Sean, the other Sean is right, Taos is actually over the weekend of the 5th.  I may be up for a ride, but I also have a laundry list of things to get done over the weekend (including getting the wheel back on the Thruxton).

As far as getting out and meeting people, our monthly meeting is coming here on the 2nd (Tuesday).  Official start is 7:00, but people show up early to chat and grab a bite.  Interstate Kitchen on 10th and Santa Fe.  Tim usually sends an official reminder.

So, long time (3-ish years) lurker, and I think it's about time I got to know some people.  I think a lot of the core folk are going down to Taos this weekend, but I can't spare that much time.  I'd like to take a 4-6 hour ride either Sunday or Monday, and I've got my wonderful wife actually pushing me to do so.  So my question to the group is, "who wants to go a moderate day ride this weekend?"

If someone has a route, awesome.  But if nobody does, I'll gladly put something together.  I just want to go riding, and it's been a long time since I've done that with any like minded people.  If you're interested, please hit me up.  Shiny side up, and all that.

Cheers,
-Sean

Taos is actually the following weekend.  I am not sure what everyone's plans are for this weekend.

My wife is leading a ride out to Walden for another club on Saturday, so that's likely where I will go as well.  Sunday and Monday I am not sure about yet.

[emrat:5590] who's up for a local ride this weekend?

Cheers,
-Sean

Re: [emrat:5589] Fw: Long way back....

Possibly. Maybe day 1. Anyone else interested in taking that route into Montrose for day one and coming back from there on Monday?

Martin
