True, Larry.  That's why I need investors with really deep pockets!

IT MAY HAVE BEEN A NICE BIKE, BUT IT HAD PROBABLY BEEN SITTING OUTSIDE AT AN IMPOUND LOT SINCE JULY

Hmmm . . . well, thanks, Brian and Norm, for thinking of me.

I think we need some deep-pocket investors so I can bid on bikes at auction or buy them from law enforcement agencies.

Then we'll need a museum/shop where they can be housed and worked on.

Perhaps adjacent to Off Leash Ales?

I guess we need an SPCB (Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Bike) just like the animal lovers have in the SPCA.  I nominate Dan as the Chairman.

I agree Dan. I've never thought that the "we're going to destroy your (fill in the blank)" approach that the authorities occasionally use did much to deter the behavior that they want to stop. It always seemed more like a publicity stunt than anything else.

That said, it might have been more fitting to make the offender crush his own bike for being such a d-bag. By the looks of the bike it probably wouldn't have gotten much on the open market anyway.

Not that the Denver Police Department asked my opinion, but I would have preferred that the bike be auctioned off with the proceeds going to a motorcycle safety program.  Jail and fine the rider, the real culprit.  Spare the bike!
