Re: [emrat:11751] Fwd: Denver RAT Chapter

I don't have a strong opinion about this since I don't ride up from COS for meetings, but I do love the rides and can tell you you guys put more miles on your bikes than either other club I'm part of.  You're doing something right; keep announcing your rides and I will keep showing up :)

As a long term member, from the purchase of my '97 Sprint Sport from Fay Meyers (on Alameda then) to the early days with Erico and Trip Miller's leadership, the club has had some ups and downs, and multiple venue changes. I don't really know what led up to the recent split with Erico. I just assume the Beldock's made a business decision to discontinue providing any level of sponsorship, or recognition, for that matter.

It makes sense that having a good relationship with a local dealer would be mutually beneficial. Perhaps some discounts on merchandise, or help with an event, but more importantly getting name recognition out there to Triumph owners about our group and building or at least maintaining membership and brand interest, which should pay off for the dealership.

But why do we have a club? We ride and we have FUN!  (And beer. ;-)

We do need to find a centralized venue again for regular meetings, and that has been difficult. I don't think we need to "start a new chapter", we just need to build what we've got. So why not have a discussion with Foothills? Let's see what we can come up with to re-energize and grow a little.

All your concerns are duely noted.

My two concerns that still bothers me is a lack of a consistant meeting spot and declining attendance at the monthly meetings.

The posting l submitted is just a suggestion, and only that,l do welcome any ideas, objections,or whatever!I personally feel that the idea needs to remain on the table.

Whilst l be first to admit that EMRAT was very differant from the early days with Triumph Motorcycles America backing,it remains imperative,to me anyway,to make sure we are still here for Denver Metro Triumph owners

E-Steve; I am having trouble with the statement 'forming/joining a new Denver Rat Chapter' because as I understand our discussions, the object is to obtain Triumph sponsorship for the present RMRAT as it is.  I am adverse to any changes to would go against our 'no dues, no rules, no leaders' concept.  The split with Erico has never been fully explained to me to my satisfaction, and I would be hesitant to enter into an association with another dealer that may have similar motives in future dealings with RMRAT.  One thing that I have always been adamant about is that RAT is primarily an association of Hinckley Triumph owners and an interest in the brand, even though RMRAT by it's nature welcomes all brands (including S Steve's cast iron hog!) to participate in our activities.  Wayne E (EWB)

You are receiving this e-mail because you expressed interest in forming/joining a new Denver RAT Chapter, based at Foothills Motorsports.

As a starter, we are a group of motorcyclists, who own various Triumph motorcycles, who have an interest in riding with like- minded individuals.

I suggest that we informally get together to discuss our interests and objectives in forming a RAT Chapter.  If you are still interested, please send me a reply to indicate your availability (day of the week and time) to meet at Foothills.  Let me know if you have any specific thoughts about what you want to get out of the RAT Chapter, and I will put together an agenda for our first meeting.

Look forward to hearing from you soon.
