Very common. Filters are quite often superseded with subtle changes. They should both work fine unless there's a technical service bulletin that says otherwise.

I had one of the "tall" ones and thought it was the wrong part. So I ordered 2 from a dealer online. The order arrived and I received one "short" one and one "tall" one ... both with the same part number on the box (but different style boxes).
