Re: [emrat:2253] Sena SMH10 Question

BTW, just saw a pretty gnarly video of the newly released Bell Rogue Helment - http://youtu.be/EPK2abr1I8s - the side ear pads come with little pouches to put your earbuds. Very cool design, may just have to pick one up.

Norm,

Sara and I use the SMH-10 units with the EAR, Inc. iPlugz.  We ordered  the A0304, for use with the earbuds and the wired or boom mic.  We found we much prefer the small button type wired mic.  The boom is better for open face or modular.  As far as changing the mic, they plug in and could be easily changed, except that the wired one velcros in at the front of the chin piece of the FF helmet. So you would have to secure that thin wire out of the way if you wanted to change to the boom on the same helmet. I am not sure why you would, but it can be done.

If you own more than one helmet, just order a clamp kit that best suites each helmet type and the SMH-10 unit easily swaps between them.

Hi fellow RATS

I am looking at getting a Sena SMH10.  I have a set of Ear,Inc custom ear plugs with the speakers.  I want to use those instead of the in-helmet speaker pads that come with the SMH10.  Will those plug right into that unit? Do the standard speaker pads detach or do you have to cut them off?  It seems like the Sena web page suggests you need a Helmet Plug kit like the A0303 to use ear buds but that seems to double up on the mics and adds another helmet-attachable device..  Does anyone have some experience buying this stuff to know the simplest option to get what I want, the SMH10 unit, the ear plug in and the option to use the boom mic or the universal mic.  If you want this to charge while on the bike, do you need another optional accessory too?

Thanks, Norm
