Let's depart from the Starbucks, CO 93 and Washington Ave., in Golden at 9 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 14th. (Actual address is 114 N. Rubey Drive, Golden CO 80403). There is a 7-11 just to the north, if anyone needs to gas up first. And a Loaf-and-Jug just to the south.
This will be a modest ride, first up Golden Gate Canyon on CO 46 to the "Peak-to-Peak Highway" (CO 119) and north to Nederland for coffee (naturally) and a rest stop.
From Nederland, we'll head north on CO 72 and down the South St. Vrain Canyon on CO 7 to Lyons for lunch. Someone will drive Doug to Lyons .
I'll let you know where the lunch stop is once I've confirmed how many will be on the ride and arranged a reservation, if needed.
Right now, I'm thinking of the Outlaw Saloon as it seems to be one place where motorcyclists stop for lunch. If anyone has a (good or bad) comment about this establishment, let me know. Another possibility is Smokin Dave's BBQ and Tap House. Oskar Blues doesn't seem to have a very good space for a group as I recall.
Please email me directly at dpilcher@cochamber.com to let me know that you are planning on participating in the ride.
Even if you have not yet met Doug, I hope that you can join in this benefit fundraising ride and support "one of our own" because Doug faces many challenges, both financially and otherwise, as he continues his long recuperation from the accident.
If you can't participate in the ride but can join us for lunch, please let me know.
At this point, I believe I have RSVPs from:
· "English Steve" Farrow-Reid
· Vince Lane (Sturgis veteran)
· Wayne Everman
· Chris Peltz
Thanks, and stay safe . . .
Dan
