[The Network] Community Restorative Justice for Longmont Community Justice Partnership needs an Intern

 


Community Restorative Justice Internship

About the Organization:  LCJP is a growing Longmont nonprofit organization that has an 18-year history of delivering restorative justice (RJ) services in partnership with the Longmont Police Department, the Longmont Municipal Court, and other Criminal Justice agencies.  More information can be found at: www.lcjp.org.

LCJP's Mission: "To cultivate a safe and caring community, reduce crime and bring together those involved in crime or conflict to be heard, creating justice for all."

Population Served: Juveniles, adults, community members of Longmont, persons who are victims of crime, persons who have committed criminal acts, all services offered in both English and Spanish.

Period of Internship: Currently, we have one internship position open in the Community Restorative Justice (CRJ) program. This internship requires a 10 month commitment starting in August 2013.

We offer:

     Restorative Justice (RJ) Community Member and Facilitation training

     Case Coordination Experience

     Event Coordination Experience

     Facilitation Experience

     Volunteer Support Experience

     A community of people that value and practice RJ principles

     A modest stipend of $1,000

     A chance to be a part of leading the restorative justice movement in Colorado! 

Position expectations:

     Background check and integrity interview with the Longmont Police Department

     Complete RJ Trainings

     Facilitate RJ cases

     Case work

     Attend Monthly Staff Meetings

     Social Media assistance

     Some night and weekend hours 

Qualifications:

     Commitment to and value of restorative justice principles

     Enrolled in good standing at a university program in Conflict Resolution, Peace Studies, Social Work or related social services field

     Available at least 10 months for the internship; 15-25 hours per week (flexible)

     Good organizational skills

     Proficiency in Microsoft office suite; experience with social networking tools

     Comfort with groups and group facilitation  

     Preferred: Experience in or knowledge of restorative justice practices

     Preferred: Research experience

     Preferred: Spanish language proficiency
