The Colorado State Patrol has identified the two victims, according to an article in the Fort Collins Coloradoan.
And, from an article also in The Fort Collins Coloradoan newspaper about numerous vehicle accidents in the area:
Tasked with keeping tabs on county roads — including 38E along Horsetooth Reservoir — he said the biggest concerns for injury accidents are in the foothills and on mountain roads just west of the city, especially for motorcycle riders.
There were 12 “overturning” motorcycle crashes on Larimer County-maintained roads in 2013, county records show, and one of them was fatal. That number is part of a steady downward trend in the overall number of motorcycle crashes for the past five years, but Sunday’s head-on collision set a somber tone to the riding season, he said.
“(Motorcycles) are a big part of our accident numbers,” he said. “That’s a trend we’ve been watching over the past few years.”
County roads are particularly problematic for rollover crashes and other speed-related wrecks, Gleiforst said. He was hesitant to say last week’s crashes were any indication of things to come, but he did urge caution to anyone heading out for a motorcycle ride in the foothills where there still may be loose sand or even icy spots on shady roads.
“We’re still feeling the effects of wintertime,” he warned. “Those conditions are still out there.”
