Youth Mental Health First Aid

Fact: Mental disorders can cause Fact: Half of all mental disorders, a young person's education, social on-going problems across a person's diagnosed later in life, actually began relationships, health habits and their lifespan. Early detection can help by age 14, and three-quarters by age transition into adulthood. ensure proper treatment and support. 24. 

Youth Mental Health First Aid is a program designed teach the tools necessary to recognize unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in adolescents, and provide you with appropriate actions to help. This program is delivered by certified Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructors.

Mental Health First Aid will teach you: 
  • A 5-step action plan to support adolescents, experiencing symptoms of mental illness or in crisis, to connect with professional care. 
  • The importance of early intervention. 
  • The potential warning signs and risk factors for depression, anxiety disorders, suicide, substance use, trauma, ADHD, bi-polar and other mental health disorders.
WHERE: Aurora Mental Health Center • 11059 E. Bethany Dr., Aurora, CO 80014, 1st floor.
WHEN: Monday, April 21, 2014 • 8:00am – 5:00pm 
COST: $25 per person – all who complete the training will receive a certificate of completion.
